[ 메디채널 김장윤(JASON KIM) 기자 ] 방콕, 2025년 9월 2일 -- 공연 예술은 인간의 소통과 정서, 문화적 정체성이 잘 드러나는 존재다. 쭐랄롱꼰 대학교(Chulalongkorn University) 미술 및 응용 예술 학부는 학사, 석사, 박사 과정을 통해 전통을 보존하고 혁신을 주도하면서도 태국의 창조 경제와 소프트 파워에 기여할 수 있는 예술가와 학자를 양성하고 있다. 수라폰 비룰락(Surapone Virulrak) 명예 교수는 왕립 아카데미 회원이자 태국 무용의 대가로 원시 시대 의식부터 현대 브랜딩까지 인간의 DNA에 춤이 어떻게 각인되어 있는지를 연구하고 있다. 수라폰 교수는 '드라마'라는 단어가 스토리텔링과 춤, 음악, 역할극, 대중 연설, 모델링과 같은 일상적인 상호작용을 아울러 표현하기에 가장 적합한 용어라며 "따라서 춤은 단순히 재미로 하는 예술의 한 형태가 아니라 인류 의사소통 진화에서 손꼽히게 중요한 형태다. 이야기를 기록하고, 감정을 전달하고, 각 시대의 사회적 가치를 반영하는 수단"이라고 강조했다. 쭐랄롱꼰 대학교에서 공연은 여러 학문을 아우르는 언어이다.
